Edison and Ford Winter Estates

McGregor Boulevard | Fort Myers | FL | US

New Commercial

The new Entry Building at the Edison and Ford Winter Estates serves as a refined architectural gateway to one of Fort Myers’ most treasured cultural landmarks. Designed to be the first structure built within a larger Master Plan, the building sets the tone for future development while respecting the historic character of the site and its lush botanical surroundings. The overall master plan will introduce more than two acres of new development within the Edison and Ford Winter Estates’ existing nine-hectare property.

Phase I of the Master Plan has already been completed, expanding and upgrading parking to better accommodate the Estates’ growing popularity.

Phase II introduces the new Entry Building, which will serve as a welcoming gateway for visitors. Defined by a graceful, extended roof canopy, the structure offers visitors shelter from Florida’s intense sun and seasonal rains while creating a calm, welcoming arrival experience. The building accommodates ticketing, archives, and administrative spaces, along with discreetly integrated outdoor amenities, all unified by a light, contemporary design that prioritizes openness, shade, and connection to the landscape.

Phase Il will encompass over 8,000 square feet of enclosed interior space, complemented by approximately 7,000 square feet of covered outdoor public areas.

Future phases will further enrich the campus with an education building, a new museum store, a large lecture and performance venue, and smaller community gathering spaces. In keeping with the mission of the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, these additions will strengthen the site’s role as both a community hub and a national attraction, one that continues to celebrate the ingenuity and legacy of the inventors and business leaders who helped shape American history.
